Recently we became acquainted with the Béton Center of Visual Culture in Moscow. The occasion was the unique exhibition "City N and its Inhabitants. Photography of the 19th—early 20th centuries." The center opened in April 2022, and its main activity is the study and promotion of photographic art. About the exhibition: "City N" has no coordinates. The authors of the project deliberately avoid reference to the location, creating a collective image and a motley mosaic of provincial Russia.

In the process of getting acquainted with the photographs and technologies of that time, it turned out that the larger the format of the photograph was required, the larger the equipment used for shooting had to be. One can only imagine the dimensions of the camera of which a photograph was created of 250 people regiment, where each face could be seen.

We were also introduced to the outstanding collection of contemporary art belonging to the BETON center and its founder, artist Olga Michi. Among the works were stunning masterpieces.

"Lenin - Giacometti (Meeting of two sculptures)" by Leonid Sokov

"Stalin and Spiderman" by Alexander Kosolapov

Marshal Zhukov from the "Time Contour" by Boris Orlov

"Mini and Mickey" by Alexander Kosolapov

"Dwelling of the Future" by Art group GrOM
