Fifth Avenue Gallery on Smolenskaya 7 in Moscow opened a Preview of the exhibition “Discordia Concors”, which presents ceramic sculptures by Natalia Khlebtsevich and paintings and graphic works by Lyudmila Krutikova. The curator of the exhibition, Marina Shirskaya, subtly refers us to the age-old attempts to decipher the concept of “harmony,” as well as to the search for ways to harmonize a person’s relationship with himself, with nature, and with society.
Bringing dissonant matters to balance, coherence and complementarity is a delicate task, which the authors, in my opinion, handled superbly. The exhibition brought together about 30 works that develop the language of abstraction in monochrome with minimal use of color and reliance on graceful geometry.
