EVERYTHING YOU CAN IMAGINE ~ IS REAL

Pablo Picasso

The history of Mougins dates back to the Middle Ages. The exact date of the city’s founding is unknown; it was first mentioned in the 11th century as the possession of the Antibes' counts. A beautiful ancient settlement on a hill with the remnants of medieval buildings, olive gardens, pine groves, and rows of cypress trees, attracted the attention of French bohemia in the 20th century.

MELODY OF SOUND

It is also a favorite vacation spot for many celebrities, who are attracted by the proximity of famous resorts, wonderful views, and charming city. Edith Piaf often visited Mougins, and recently, the popular singer Rihanna became the owner of a beautiful villa. Speaking of sound and music, we cannot fail to mention what Pablo Picasso used to say: “Everyone wants to understand art. Why not try to understand the songs of a bird?”

MELODY OF COLOR

Yes, Mougins was especially loved by Pablo Picasso. The famous artist adored the beauty of the streets and the resort nature and even bought a cozy villa in the suburbs, where he stayed with his wife until his death. In the very center of the city, there is the Museum of Classical Art with the richest collection of paintings and sculptures by Picasso, Matisse, Rodin, and other iconic artists.

MELODY OF TASTE

The city is known for its cuisine, too. French foodies know that you can try real Provencal food here. Mougins has a huge number of restaurants, cafes, and taverns, where even those who are very choosy about food will be satisfied. The Moulins and Candia restaurants are pearls of the Mougins food world and you can find them listed in the Michelin Guide. In September, the resort hosts the Mougins Stars festival, dedicated to French dishes.

ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT

An exciting immersing in the architectural style of Mougins, its wonderful examples of modern and historical villas as well as gothic chapels have influenced a creative process of finding a style for our residence exterior. Strictly symmetrical buildings, chosen as sources of inspiration, with a hierarchy of “noble” and secondary spaces, and decorative details of French and Italian classical architecture were only part of the overall plan. Here we draw an analogy with the work of another famous resident of Mougins – Christian Dior. Perfectly crafted Haute

couture creations from the fashion house of the same name are associated with a flawless form of classic architecture. They remind us of the timeless values of proven classics that incorporate some “modern spices” in detail. This allowed us to reflect on “spices” in our project, so we combined fundamental neoclassical forms with the elements of Japanese wooden pagodas that many find incompatible at first glance within a single building. The effect was impressive.

PROJECT DETAILS

We tried to create an elegant residence for the family, which could be a center for the preservation of traditions, where you can gather close friends, where you can relax, work, cook, spend time with children or just be alone with your thoughts. The building has two private zones – male and female with master bedrooms, dressing rooms, and bathrooms. There are also four fully furnished guest bedrooms with private bathrooms. On the first floor, there is a large living room, fireplace room, and dining area. The residence also has a space that can be a guest hall or reception point, and if

needed it can be turned into a spacious children's play zone. The basement includes a comfortable swimming pool and a SPA area. However, these are not all the amenities for a pleasant pastime. We also designed a cigar room with a wine cellar so that the villa owners could offer their guests the best relaxation and a variety of flavors. On the second floor on the terrace, there is a cozy guest area with a stage and karaoke, where you can arrange various musical events based on the guests’ musical preferences.
