The State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow presented a large-scale exhibition project "The Vasnetsovs. A Generational Bridge. From the 19th Century to the 21st" about the work of the outstanding artistic dynasty of the Vasnetsovs. The exposition includes the best works of Viktor Mikhailovich (1848-1926), Apollinary Mikhailovich (1856-1933), and Andrei Vladimirovich (1924-2009). The exhibition is dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the birth of Viktor Vasnetsov and the 100th anniversary of the birth of Andrei Vasnetsov.

Viktor Mikhailovich was the master of folklore and epic paintings, who anticipated in his work the artistic discoveries of the Art Nouveau and Symbolism eras. Colorful, familiar from childhood plots in his brilliant execution will forever remain the best illustrations of Russian fairy tales and epics.

His younger brother Apollinariy Mikhailovich was the first in Russian art to turn to the theme of pictorial reconstruction of the architecture and life of Ancient Rus. Andrei Vladimirovich Vasnetsov, the grandson of Viktor Mikhailovich and one of the founders of the "severe style", became a major master of monumental and easel painting in the second half of the 20th century.

The Vasnetsovs can be characterized as artists-thinkers who raised eternal questions in art, encouraging viewers to comprehend the truth of beauty and harmony. The artistic dynasty made a significant contribution to the history of Russian art.

"A new generation always brings new searches and a new vision to Art".
