FIFTH AVENUE GALLERY X UMA CERAMICS
Photo

On one of the wonderful summer evenings in Moscow took place the opening of the exclusive project FIFTH AVENUE X UMA CERAMICS "EARTH & FIRE" by ceramic artist Veronika Zhabko. Veronika's works have already been noted by our bureau at the 4CERAMICS festival, which recently took place at the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts.

The main focus of the author's professional interest is high-fire ceramics and wood-burning stoves. The aesthetics of the beauty of imperfection, naturalness, spontaneous combination of various textures, and natural shades are her main guidelines in working with ceramics. Veronika Zhabko works with clay intuitively, creating simple forms using hand-sculpting techniques.

Each firing is a new experience, an exciting journey, and a large field for experiments and knowledge. Veronica fires her works in kilns of different types (anagama, noborigama, tonkgama, train-kiln) in Russia, India, France, and Japan. A wonderful addition to the evening was the lecture "Japanese Ceramics - from Craft to Art" by Anna Egorova, PhD in art history and Head of the Department of Art of the Far East, Southeast Asia, and Oceania of the Museum of the East.
